Went to the barrel last night for the first time. First impression was great: I really liked the atmosphere. We came at 7pm on a Saturday night and they had hardly any customers but by the time we left at 9pm the restaurant was almost full. Our waitress was great; very attentive. We ordered some beers from the bar and they had a good list to choose from. We started with the grilled Caesar salad and the tomato barrese. I love grilled Caesar salads and was really excited about this one. It was good but tasted a little too fishy for my taste. The tomato barrese was also good but somewhat bland. I think it would have been great with more fresh basil and possibly some balsamic. For an entree we shared the vegan burger but made it not-so-vegan by putting it on wheat berry toast with jalapeño aioli. The burger was actually REALLY good. I also liked the barrel fries. They served them with spicy ketchup, which I didn't really care for but its just because I'm not a huge fan of Tabasco. Overall it was a good experience and great service. But the mediocre (and both $9) salads were my reason for three stars. I will definitely be back again to try more things though. I just think they need to work on their food a little!

Awesome Brunch including the best Bloody Mary I've have in a long tim ! Also, the service was great!

The beer list is great, great atmosphere, and.... well, great atmosphere! They're usually understaffed and it's not the place to go for great service or next level food, the food is an afterthought, and pretty much standard pub fare. They used to have a Bobby Flay grilled caesar that was out of this world, but took it off the menu. It's a pretty good sports bar with very average food, imo. For watching sports it's pretty good -- they have tv's everywhere.

Just for clarity's sake, this blathering mess of words is for the brunch menu as we haven't been able to drag ourselves back to check out the regular menu. (I know, we suck at life.) Just to be clear, starting the day with a gigantic goblet of a Mimosa and flavorful coffee is always a good thing. #dontjudge As for the food, the family had the Double Barrel Breakfast, Barrel Benedict, and Pub Stack Pancakes. The Double Barrel, as the name implies, delivered a shotgun approach to breakfast foods. There were portions of bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, and biscuits and gravy. All delicious! The wife branched out in her egg-ucation by ordering the Barrel Benedict and was delighted with the combination of eggs, sausage, and English muffin. The boy's pancakes were big and fluffy, and he devoured them like any growing 8 year old would. Overall, The Barrel was a good culinary start to the day, with an interesting decor, and I look forward to seeing what the full menu brings to the table.

Can yooouuu dig it?! 2 visits down and I'm a fan! I'm normally a dive bar kind of gal; the divey-er the better, but The Barrel reminded me a little of the sports bar where I met my husband in San Diego. The interior shows some manly features with it's sweet sweet smell of rich mahogany..... Um? Not really. I'm just imagining what Ron Burgundy would say. Carrying on... I love the tall booths because it's intimate. You don't have to overhear an awkward first date convo, guys talking about the ex-girlfriend's mother they just banged or better yet! Girl gossip. You know what I'm talking about! The light up Oklahoma state sign also caught my eye. So sparkly and mesmerizing. Pros: Non-smoking Gastropub style food - It ain't cheap but it's pretty good. The brussel sprouts are sooo good. Plenty of delicious bevs Lots of TVs Cons: I wasn't thrilled with the Chocolate Souffle., but that's just me. It just wasn't the best I've ever had. Portion wasn't meant for sharing either. FYI

The food here is mediocre. The porch is nice and the ambiance is okay, but it's not a place I would go back by choice. The drinks are expensive.

First visit here since it became "The Barrel" and I gotta say I like it way better than "Cafe Nova". We came to finish celebrating a friends bday and well we were all impressed. At first, service was kinda slow and it was kinda dead compared to stories I've heard. A little later it did get busy and we ended up with a new server and she was way, way faster. I liked the atmosphere and the fact the have a few flat screens so you can catch a game is a plus too. The only downside was the slow service when we were 5 out of the 15 patrons in there. Also, the music was a little too loud for my taste. Other than that we will be going back for little celebrations and bdays for ourselves and friends.
(4)JW P.
Had brunch with the family at The Barrel today, not so great! My first observation was the fact that they didn't replace the tile from Nova and it is disgusting. Secondly, they sat our party of five in a booth for four. No bueno. The drink service was slow. Then the food was marginal at best!
(1)Nicole S.
Great atmosphere. Great beer selection. The food is average at best. The bartender recommended the amazing mashed potatoes, which tasted like instant. I'd recommend for happy hour, but skip dinner
(3)Asheli N.
The food was good, I had the flash steak. Thought the drinks were a little over priced. Overall would go back!
(4)Stephanie J.
I leave near this resturaunt and love the food and atmosphere. The only this that keeps me hesitant about going back is the hostesses. I love bringing friends to sit in the patio and when the heaters on its so comfortable but they always refuse to sit me out there. It makes you feel unwelcome. Wish they had better attitudes because I would go there probably once a week if it were more friendly.
(2)Jana S.
Mimosas were delicious, as was the omelette! Great service, great atmosphere for brunch. Looking forward to coming back for happy hour.

I went with a work group of 8. I made a reservation, which i didn't need. It was a slow night (Wednesday). There's complimentary valet parking. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The atmosphere is relaxed with dim but not dark lighting. They have TV'S but the volume was muted. We all ordered different items and nothing disappointed. Especially the bread pudding. This place could have easily received 5 stars but the waitress gave poor service. She had a great disposition however she lacked attention to detail. We had to seek her out to order meals. She gave the wrong beer to individuals and completely forgot about another. Although we told her several times our bills were separate, she still asked before closing our bill.

My boyfriend and I went here to watch a 2:30pm Thunder game on a Sunday, with the intention to have some drinks but also to eat. We sat at the bar and were given only a brunch menu. We didn't ask about a lunch menu, just assumed brunch was the only option since it was Sunday. Later we did see people ordering from the lunch menu, which we wish we would have done. Both of our brunch dishes were just ok, not bad but definitely not worth it for the price. The redeeming factor was the beer selection and our bartender, who we think was the bar manager. He was very personable and recommended some new beers based on what we were drinking. The TV's are big and you can pretty much see one from anywhere you are sitting. However, for the whole first quarter, they didn't play the sound for the game, I assume since they were going for the Sunday brunch atmosphere, even though most people were clearly there to watch the game. They did turn the sound on during the second quarter though, so it ended up being fine. Overall, we will probably go back for drinks and/or to watch a game, but likely not for food.

If you are coming for a quick meal with stellar service this is not your venue. The drinks were overpriced as they were charging $45 for mimosas made from $5 J Roget. The food, however, is amazing. I highly recommend the shrimp and grits for a taste of South Texas with a kick. I grew up eating cheesy grits and these are not my grandmother's meals, but they fit my flavor profile perfectly. The aroma was causing instant envy for the rest of my party of 20. The rest of the party's meals looked wonderful and received high rankings. From what I understand the service quality was not just because we had a large party, the service is always slow as they have a hard time keeping staff. I hope they can find some accountable employees soon as I would like to continue dining at The Barrel and receive the standard of service I expect.

I should really do a yelp meets groupon list or something as this was a groupon find... and a great deal. Hubby and I went to the Barrel about a month ago and I'm just getting around to the review. Bad Jenny... bad. I cannot remember what this place was before, but it is next to Sushi Neko on Western, near the Drum Room. I love the space inside. The bar is in the middle, flanked by bar stools. There is a long communal tall table in the front, booth seating on the sides, and the kitchen is in the back. The wall between the kitchen and dinning area has a beautiful piece of art. It is the state of Oklahoma constructed out of wine bottles, bottom side out, and a beautiful pulsating heart light in the center. Amazing. The interior is warm and looks to be reclaimed wood. This would be a great place for happy hour, early or late dinner. It appears they do brunch too. The staff was welcoming and attentive. David and I were in the mood for burgers and had the other burger: bacon-onion jam, smoked cheddar, sunny-side-up egg on a sweet bun with fries. The burger was medium well, the bacon-onion jam really sealed the deal as did the perfectly runny, sunny-side-up egg. The sweet bun really cleansed the pallet for each runny delicious bite. The fries were the perfect delivery tool for the curry/spiced ketchup. I had the Manhattan and David had a beer...I can't remember what type. The Manhattan was standard and strong. The meal was wonderful. We were fat and happy, but then the waitress asked if we wanted desert. Well, we gilded the lily and ordered the brownie: warm soft brownie, vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and... wait for it...bacon brittle. The bacon craze was something I never really was on board for... but this was damn good. Picture peanut brittle only with the nuts replaced by crunchy caramelized bacon bits... that's right... bacon candy. ... dropping the mic and walking away now.

Came in for dinner on a Friday night. Was promptly greeted by a friendly host who showed us right to our table. Our waitress was excellent. Very knowledgable about the menu and was able to make excellent suggestions. Prompt attention and delicious food! I would highly recommend this place!

Went to The Barrel last night and looked it up on Yelp to see what others thought. I was really surprised to see it only had three stars. After looking over the reviews, it looks like they had some issues when they first opened last year, but some of the more recent reviews seem to indicate they've fixed a lot of their issues. I have been three times and all three visits were very positive. The first visit was for a work happy hour and we ordered chips and fries with various dipping sauces and it was all very tasty. The various dipping sauces were fun and provided for some nice variety. They have a nice selection of beer and wine to keep everyone happy. The second visit was for brunch with a Groupon. I ordered the Tomato and Bacon Sandwich. The name isn't very inspiring, but the taste was out of this world! The "bacon" is actually pork belly making it much more flavorful than actual bacon. They serve it on toasted wheat berry, which helps to cut the sweetness of the pork belly. It's finished off with a flavorful jalapeño aioli. My only complaint, there wasn't enough aioli, but can be easily remedied by asking for more on the side. My husband ordered the Corned Beef Hash. He's not normally a brunch fan, but he liked his dish so much that I think we'll doing brunch more often. It was warm that Saturday so we sat outside on their patio and they rolled up the garage door walls. The service was great and the manager even came out to check on us and make sure everything was good with our visit. Our third visit was last night. We had just come from having dinner with a friend so no food ordered on this visit. We sat at the bar and the bartenders are all very attentive and friendly. Tried a new shot called the White Gummy Bear and it is delicious! They have complimentary valet parking, which is nice. They close earlier than the bar does, but will text you when they're closing up shop so you can come pick up your keys. Overall, I like the vibe of this place and it's a great addition to Oklahoma City!
(4)Alejandro R.
Came here with a groupon.... I should have guessed what I was getting my self into. Place looks very nice and trendy for OKC.... Looks like a nice place for a drink... But food is just average flavor with an above average price.
(3)Amanda F.
Based on beer consumption only we love this spot for happy hour and/or breezy patio for a brew! Haven't had much food here to give it a proper review but the beer menu is plentiful with yummy local cold selections. Cheers!!

I'm so glad I finally got to try more than apps and drinks here so I can properly review The Barrel. :) I'd been here for a few board meetings and just had a bit to eat, but I bought the Groupon so I could check out their full menu. First of all, they have an awesome beer selection. I love how the beer menu is categorized by brewery and by style, so it's easy to find something you want. I love wheat beer, and I think I've tried the Marshall and Big Sky wheat beers they have and liked both. I noticed they have Wells Banana Bread beer, which I've had at Republic, and it. Is. Delicious. Awesome dessert beer. Moving on... we started out with the tomatoes brusse, which was a play on a Caprese salad. Sliced tomatoes, topped with toasted grains, some kind of reduction and basil, and served with what appeared to be fresh/homemade mozzarella. I am usually not a big tomato fan, but I love Caprese salad and this did not disappoint! It was different but really good. The toasted grains offered a nice crunch to the salad. My boyfriend had the pork ribeye with macaroni and cheese and green beans, and I had the "not so po-boy," which was blackened redfish on a honey wheat roll with lettuce, tomato, bacon and shrimp remoulade. Deeeelicious. The fish was perfect, bacon was a nice compliment and the remoulade was so good with little bites of shrimp in it - yum. Mine was served with fries, which I had previously at said board meetings, but The Barrel's fries are probably some of my favorite in town! The appetizer comes with three dipping sauces - spicy ketchup, dijon aioli of some kind and avocado cream sauce. I love the spicy ketchup and the avocado cream, and ordered both with my fries with my meal. I love spicy food, and in most cases, "spicy" by a restaurant's standards is hardly spicy by my standards, but I LOVE the spicy ketchup. It has an awesome kick, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're sensitive to spice. I like to switch off with that and the avocado cream to cool it down. I will say it wasn't very busy when we were there, despite there being a Thunder game on. It seems like most people still think of this as a bar and not so much as a restaurant, but their food is awesome! I know we'll be back, and I hear they serve brunch so I will definitely have to try that...

Loathsome. That's the word that comes to mind. We got there--the place looked okay--it took us awhile to decide what we wanted to get--we did order though--45 minutes later in a building half full if that--we left without being presented with any food. We did get to listen to some awful douchebags chat. So that was something. This is exactly what this neighborhood needs--douchebags. Actually no, that seems more Plaza District to me. Maybe the bikers in Sipango's will come and beat up all the people wearing deck shoes. It might take them a long time though. Here is some advice--hire good wait staff--not people who are just aesthically pleasing--and train them how to do their job. Cray cray, i know. But still.

The Barrel fries are a must for an appetizer. I had the Salmon and risotto and spouse had the pork chop schnitzel. Everything was cooked well but the whole plate was sorely lacking in seasoning. Even the pickled onion and kale on my salmon was tasteless. It just kinda made you go waah waah. I like the decor and atmosphere. Rustic, repurposed, vineyard chill. Overall..nice place to drink with friends. Would give 3 1/2 stars if I could but I'm gonna round down on this one.

We arrived a little before the happy hour crowd got into full swing. We intended to just check out the buzz of the new place in the hood and grab a beer or two. After looking at the menu we decided to split the bartenders favorite dish, pork chop schnitzel. It was a big bone-in tomahawk chop cut fried hunk of pork. It was pretty good too. The homemade chips were more my wifes style though. As soon as the place started to fill up with patrons the more I started to have flash backs to the old tenants issue, douchebaggery. Can't be helped I guess. Food was pretty good. Service was a touch unresponsive, even more so when they had more than just a view couples at the rail. Although the bartender did manage to redeem himself with the dinner suggestion. Decor was really cool, I love the industrial / modern thing they have going on. Beer selection was on point. Call an exorcist about those pesky ghosts of Nova past.

It's been 6 months between my Barrel visits, and needless to say, The Barrel is moving right along in a good way! The menu is much improved--better desserts, better appetizer options, good dinner options, and a decent alcoholic beverage selection. I also liked that the tables were rearranged up front to maximize the space for more smaller parties. I ended up with the same dish as last time because I do love some fish and chips. The presentation was a bit different this time as it was served in a space age-esque silver bowl instead of on a plate. The portions were generous, so good thing I came starving! Rather than serving only sriracha ketchup, two ketchup options were situated on the table: one regular and one spicy. That was much appreciated! After seeing these changes, I'm much more likely to make a return visit in the future. The food is good and the drinks flow, so why not?

Update! 7/21/14 I had finally tried their food last Thursday! Did a double date with a friend of mine that just recently moved to OKC and wanted to show her the new late night hang out. We did dinner at about 8. Seemed to have had a couple of groups that did a "happy hour" there straight from work, so it was busy! I love places with a lively crowd, and Barrel always seems to have one! OKAY, so on to food! Now you will probably sigh when I told you that I ended up only ordering a salad! I knew i shouldn't have, but I was just really craving some veggies! I got the Pub salad with the filet. The filet was cooked well to my liking, however somewhat dull. The salad dressing had almost no flavor. So it wasn't the best thing, and I wouldn't recommend it. I might get the pulled chicken salad next time instead! My group ordered the Ahi Tuna dish, Flash Fried Steak, and the Barrel burger. We all loved the flash fried steak, basically a chicken fried steak. The batter was a like creamy gravy flavor, I know that sounds so crazy, but I swear, I tasted white gravy without the gravy when I had a few bites. Definitely recommend that if you are feeling a southern comfort kind of food! We got fries and brussel sprouts as our side and loved them both! My friend seemed to enjoy her Ahi Tuna, as she finished every single bite. And it wasn't a skimpy portion either. She did say it was more rare than her liking, but I didn't notice, however, sushi grade tuna is one of my favorite foods. The rarer the better for me! Haha! Next time I want to try their Shepard's Pie, Chef Daddy Burger, and the Pork Ribeye! All three of those were eyeing me when I went but just didn't have a big enough appetite at the moment to get them! Can't wait to try it next.
(4)Randy R.
Ate there Monday nite. Both my daughter and I had burgers and both were burned. How do you burn both of them? The chips with various sauces were good however and the atmosphere is alright. However, I think this place is living on borrowed time.

Had a groupon because I love Irish food, saw the menu online, and decided to check it out. We had the shrimp and chips to start off, the shrimp was fresh and the fries were crispy. A little heavy on the tobasco in the spicy ketchup, but can't complain about anything else. Husband had a burger, I had shepard's pie, and no kid's menu, so we got a side of pub mac n' cheese for the child. Burger was okay, shepard's pie was decent, a little heavy on the chili, and not covered in mashed potatoes the whole way across. It was good, but not amazing. I am excited to see where this restaurant goes with a little tweaking ingredients, which comes with time. Will be back to try the schnitzel, bangers, and colcannon.
(4)Jenni S.
Ok. I had the chance to go back for the brunch and I have to increase their star count. Maybe my choice of dinner meal was bad and that is why I was so disappointed the first time. The brunch was outstanding and the mimosas were cold and large just the way I like them. So, I have to go back for dinner and see if they can make it to 4 stars. I am holding out hope.
(3)Julie S.
We were lucky enough to get to visit The Barrel twice last weekend during the dry run, once for brunch and once for dinner. My overall impression is outstanding - this is exactly the kind of restaurant we've needed in OKC, and first looks tell me it is going to be great. The decor, the bar, the beers on tap, the attentiveness of the waitstaff, the big comfy booths, the location, all of this exceeded my expectations. The menu skews Irish pub, but with Oklahoma and local touches, made a little bit more accessible and healthier than standard Irish pub fare can be. For brunch, I had the three-egg omelet, with fresh veggies inside, served with lots of piping hot home fries and fresh fruit. The 16 ounce mimosa for $5 didn't hurt either! Mr K had the Dossiant sandwich. We both enjoyed our meals. Our only feedback was that in both cases, we prefer our eggs a little bit less cooked. This is hard to do when making an omelet or a sandwich, since you need the egg to be firm in consistency. However, we both would rather have the egg cooked less throughly, even if that makes the presentation less perfect. But. overall, delish and I would order this again. Several of us came back for dinner, upon invitation. We ordered several things, including the Burrese (burrata + caprese) salad, which was so good. The tomatoes are coated in healthy whole grains, adding to the flavor and providing some much-needed crunch. For dinner, we shared the chicken fried steak with Colcannon. Their Colcannon is prepared with garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed kale. The kale makes you feel a little better about the mashed potatoes you're eating, but this tastes too good to be good for you. The chicken fried steak was good, but I'm not sure it was $17 good, especially for the portion size. I feel like that is a bit of a stretch. I'm not sure what makes it more expensive, but CFS is intended to be pretty affordable and the portion size plentiful. The best thing we shared: the carmel chili filet. The cut, the flavor, the preparation were absolutely perfect. We ate every bite, sopped up all the sauce, and would definitely order this again. The green beans were good, especially with little sprinkles made of toasted garlic. So: here are some things they could work on: -Portion sizes/pricing on things like the CFS -I'm not sure if the menu I was ordering off of was the final, but the menu I had only had a few sides that were not straight up potato based. I'd love to see more side options, maybe some kale chips, Brussels sprouts, carrots, something not-potato. -The music. Both times when we were in, it was like a 90s playlist. Semisonic, Chumbawumba, etc. This place is too cool for that. I'm sure they're still working on tweaking this. But overall, I know I will be back here many times in the years to come. I look forward to updating this review!
(4)Mike H.
We like it here. Guinness on tap and bangers and mash on the menu. Solid establishment.
(4)Hal H.
We've been there a couple of times recently. The service was great. The menu isn't huge, but there is a good selection. My wife was offered a non-menu item that day, and she found it was super. We aren't in the neighborhood very often, but sure will continue to stop there when we can.
(4)Travis B.
We go at least once a month for brunch. Bloody Marys and Mimosas are good and priced reasonably. I typically get an omelette or a breakfast sandwich. Always good. Once I went and the portion size for the sandwich was a little small. Otherwise, I've been getting the steak and eggs and that is usually a win. We'll be back.
(4)Frannie P.
I *really* want to love The Barrel. I've been twice now for brunch and the food is delicious, you really can't beat the mimosa PINT, and the atmosphere is fabulous. The managers seem really nice and attentive. So with that being said, why am I only giving them two stars? The waitstaff. Both times that we have been for brunch they were not terribly busy, but we experienced extremely long wait times to get water, to give drink orders, to get said drinks, to give food orders, to get said food, and to get the check. The last time we were there I seriously felt like my server was punishing me for asking for a spoon after she brought me cream and sugar for my coffee but I didn't have anything to stir it with. I'll be back to try dinner and see if the service is any better.
(2)Anna F.
I've been to The Barrel a few times now but hadn't had a meal until I went for brunch the other weekend. Our service was not the best, but the food was awesome! I had the Dossaint Sandwich and it was delicious. I'm also a fan of their breakfast potatoes. I wish our server had been better that day, but all of my other visits when I've just had drinks, the service has been good. I would definitely like to try more of their menu beyond brunch but will certainly return for brunch again!
(4)Jeremiah H.
Food is absolutely amazing. Had the flash fried steak with green beans. Definitely some of the best green beans that I have ever eaten. Fun upbeat atmosphere with great service.
(4)Amy G.
I love the space, the music, and drink prices are good. Group consensus was that the beer list was lacking (I know, I know. It's a long list). Food was just okay and needs improvement. The fries were really good. I would definitely go back for drinks, but probably not for dinner. I hope they continue to improve.
(3)Emily H.
We went for brunch today... Food was good! Service was horrible. No greeting. Just a "what can I get for you" I ordered a mimosa my boyfriend ordered a coke... He got his coke... Then 5-10 min later I got my mimosa. When our food arrived about 30 min later I ordered another mimosa and never got it... After we finished eating I had to flag down a hostess (our waitress had not come to our table since we got our food) and tell her to cancel the mimosa I had ordered cause we are done. She apologized. Then the waitress came up and I told her to cancel the mimosa and her exact words, "that's ok, I will still sell it. People love those." I kid you not! She that. I wanted the mimosa! Cause yes, I love those too!!!!! But you never brought it to me! We more then likely won't be back...
(1)Kelsey B.
Alright, we haven't been in a while. The service was bad and the food was worse. It was clear management has changed. My favorite fish and chips was bland and soggy. Everything has changed enough that it's enough to never go back. The place was packed, but it looked like after work drinks, not a lot of people were eating. It took 10 minutes for our server to bring a beer, so I'm not sure if I'd go back for drinks
(2)Terri W.
Love this place but when there is crap running down the screens of your tv's and there's a weird smell that hits you when you walk in the door you might want to clean a little. When a customer points something like that the correct answer is not "yeah we're doing a deep cleaning tomorrow "
(3)Eric S.
Very very loud. Would be great if attractive sound baffles were added to the ceiling. Service great,
(4)Luke N.
I was looking for something new to go to for a date and I'm glad I chose this place! Decor was well thought out, ambiance was great, and even though the main restaurant is mostly open, the booths along the walls are very tall and make it a lot easier to talk above the noise. We went at 7 on a Friday evening which appeared to be right before the rush. I was excited once I saw the beer list as well; lots of options and they list the percentages (I'm picky about this). I had the seared Ahi Tuna fish and barrel chips...it was prefect and a wonderful twist on a pub classic. My reason for only 4 stars is simple; my date and I had to remind our server more than once on the drink refills/beer orders and specifically what we had requested. This is most likely do to the place being so new and hopefully it will not be an ongoing issue.
(4)Claudia J.
Tried this out for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised. I'm a skeptic when it comes to trying new bars and at first was getting disappointed when the waiter was taking forever. Not his fault though, he was swampt and even though there weren't many people in the beginning, he also had to take care of all the patio people too. But once it picked and a new server came, it went much smoother. The music is LOUD. I felt like I was in a club but eventually got used to it. There are big TV's with sports playing but there is no sound so if you're wanting to actually watch a game you're probably better off going to a sports bar. I definitely liked the ambience of the place. The tables were literally barrels and compared to the previous establishment, Cafe Nova, it didn't feel as snooty or pretentious. I didn't try the food but the bartenders mix the drinks very well and they have a HUGE selection of beers. I tried one called the Horny Toad that was very tasty.
(4)Cherie B.
I'm so glad they are finally open -- The food and service is fantastic -- I had the turkey avocado wrap with a side of spatzle (so good) -- beer selection is awesome -- can't wait to come back
(5)Jon H.
Beer enthusiast dream. Nothing goes better with a beer than fish and chips. Thick sliced cod with fresh cut fries( chips). Be careful about the ketchup. It's spicy and they don't always let you know but bottled is available if you can't stand the heat. The Brussels sprouts and green beans were both delicious. And the groupon made it a cheap eat.
(4)Katherine F.
Arrived at around 6:00pm on a Saturday and was seated immediately. I love the atmosphere and the music was fantastic, which didn't hurt anything. Ordered the Barrel Fries for an app just because we wanted to try the different dipping sauces. Loved the fries and the avocado cream sauce was awesome, even my boyfriend liked it and he is not a fan of avacado. The beer menu is extensive and features beers from all over the US as well as imports. It was a little overwhelming. I ordered the Reuben with mac and cheese and my boyfriend ordered the Not So Po'boy with green beans. My Reuben was average but the mac and cheese...oh my god. To die for. And the po'boy was out of this world. Service was outstanding as well. Will definitely be back as there are several dishes I absolutely have to try.

Went on a Thursday. After the douchebags left on their party bus, this place really shone. The bartenders were attentive, but not obnoxious. Didn't order food, but it looks delightful. Late night menu until 12! Awesome!

The Barrel has a warm and inviting atmosphere. It also has tasty food that seems fresh and well-prepared. Our first visit was on a Sunday in the late afternoon. We were one of the only tables, but received very little service. It was one of those situations where we could see the inexperienced waitress just standing around while my glass stood empty. I was also hoping to ask for the sauce that should have come with my fries, but she never came back to check on us. There was also a manager just standing around, but ignoring the fact that our table needed something. The bad service that day turned what could have been a fun meal into a negative experience. That being said, we did enjoy the great beer list, our appetizer of smoked salmon, and our fish and chips entree. The one dish that was not as memorable was the poutine. It tasted more like chili cheese fries you might get at a bar. The second time we went was for a Sunday brunch a couple of hours earlier than the previous week. This time we had a well-seasoned waitress who did a great job. There was a moment when I could see our mimosas sitting on the bar while that same manager was just standing around and not pitching in. However, I still felt really pleased with the service this time. A good waiter or waitress makes such a difference! The food was overall very good again. I especially enjoyed the biscuits and gravy. The shrimp and grits recipe was not my favorite, but I have tried so many versions of that dish that I am probably a little biased. It has a very strong chipotle flavor that is a little one note. In spite of that, it still seemed like it had been prepared with great care. All in all, this is a great new restaurant that I would recommend to try. (I chose four stars because I want to support this new place. It was between 3 and 4 and will become a 4 with excellent service.) I will be back, and hope to continue to have good service in future visits!

I found it peculiar that they had no clue what an "old fashion" is given their name and all. It took a good 15mins to get my drink and then it tasted awful! Service was sub par too. I won't be back :(

Really??! Mandatory Valet parking! I've vallet parked here twice, the first time my girlfriend went and got the keys without a ticket, just asked for audi keys and they handed some over. 2nd time the valet people left or closed. the bartenders spent 30 minutes trying to find my keys!! I love this place but the stupid parking situation is killing it!

I had the strawberry sunrise and pint mimosas for starters. Then the omelet with sausage, filet, Havarti and cheddar with herb roasted potatoes. My cousin, the filet and eggs. Very pleasant service, very good bartender! Will be back for dinner!

We waited 15 minutes to be greeted, they took our order without even saying hi, then what we both ordered had run out... The manager then came and brought us a dessert to make up for everything before even apologizing. Lastly, the manager proceeded to blame it all on the server.
